Penalties for Drug Possession
If you are found to be in possession of an illegal drug, narcotic, or controlled substance, you can be charged with drug possession. Under Maryland law, an individual who is convicted of drug possession other than marijuana is guilty of a misdemeanor and could be sentenced to up to four years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of up to $25,000. An individual who is convicted of use or possession of marijuana could face a one-year prison sentence and a $1,000 fine.
If you have been charged with drug possession, it is in your best interest to immediately contact an experienced Maryland drug crime defense lawyer who can examine the circumstances of your arrest and determine if there was a violation of your Constitutional rights. The Fourth Amendment of the Constitution protects an individual against unreasonable searches and seizures of his or her person or property. A search may involve an officer inspecting your person or property such as a home or a vehicle. In almost all drug possession cases, the arrest and the evidence used to support a conviction results from search and seizure. If the law enforcement officer violated Constitutional limits, the evidence could be deemed inadmissible in a court of law and the charges will be dismissed.

Client Reviews
The attorney’s and paralegals are incredible. They are truly committed to understanding your case and serving you. However, I’ve personally worked with Mr. Berman and Mrs. Bowman through my entire process! I am so grateful for their passion, dedication, and professionalism. I haven’t worked with many attorney’s in the past, but I’m glad you all were recommended to me. You all are truly the best. Thank you so much!
