In the early morning hours on February 5th a bar patron at Bea McNalley’s in Hackettstown, NJ stopped police officers on patrol after noticing an injured man sitting in a parked car.
When the officers arrived on the scene, they found a man slumped over in his vehicle with scratches on his mouth and eyes. The man also appeared to have injured his hand, indicating that he had fallen. A witness who was interviewed by police confirmed that the man in question had fallen out of his vehicle and had sustained injuries despite attempting to stop his own fall.
When asked for identification, the driver presented officers with a Weis rewards card and a single cigarette. According to the report, officers could smell the aroma of alcohol, indicating that the perpetrator may be inebriated. The man refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.
Officers charged the injured man with careless driving, refusal to take a breathalyzer test, driving while intoxicated, failure to exhibit registration and being an unlicensed driver. He was released on his own recognizance pending an upcoming court date.
