Hear From Our Clients Just Like You

“I was extremely pleased with the legal representation that I received from Mr. Berman. My case was dismissed and my attorney filed to espionage record of the occurrence. My experience with Alpert Schreyer Office’s legal representation was outstanding! I would recommend them to anyone! Thank you for your support in getting my case dismissed without further costs.”

Christine Berry

“If I could give them 10 stars I would. Everyone at this firm are nothing short of amazing! Everyone, including all paralegal staff, were beyond helpful, supportive and knowledgeable in all aspects. Response time and communication are top notch and they really do work around the clock to get you the best deal no matter your circumstances. Truly exceeded all of my expectations, make the call, they’re worth the investment you won’t be disappointed!”

Rachel Rife

“Mr. Alpert is without hesitation the best criminal attorney in the State of Maryland. He represented me in a case that I thought for sure had no way of being won or in lack of better words, no way of avoiding being locked up for a long period of time with fines etc. Mr. Alpert not only got me out of doing jail time but also got me out of paying the fine as well. I can honestly say if you want an attorney that knows what he’s doing, that will give you peace of mind, and someone that really cares about his clients, Mr. Alpert schreyer is the one.”

Will

“Mr. Miller represented me in 4 criminal charges to include assault. I had never had a criminal record and did not have a clue how to navigate any of it. He was quick to respond and made himself available whenever I had questions. He made sure I felt prepared going into trial but managed to have all charges dismissed/withdrawn. I would use his services again.”

Ijeoma Osuji

“Hiring Andy Alpert was the best decision I could have made. I was facing a slew of traffic tickets in Charles County, MD which included jailable offenses. Andy came prepared for trial and the State knew he meant business. The outcome was more than I expected. I didn’t go to jail and I got no points on my license. Don’t go it alone. He’s worth every penny. Hands down.”

James

“I was represented by Jason Miller for a DUI offense. The incident took place in Worcester County MD. I chose Jason Miller because his credentials and experience were hard to pass up. Jason Miller did a phenomenal job representing me. He was well prepared and advised me that we should go to trail and fight the DUI offense. The judge favored Jason Miller’s argument that the Maryland State Trooper did not have enough to make an arrest because I had passed the field sobriety tests. All DUI charges were dropped as a result. The outcome could not have been better for me. I highly recommend Jason Miller.”

Case Results

All Charges Dropped

DUI

Found in his parked car with a friend and some open bottles, our client was facing a fourth DUI offense, along with 3 years of prison time and 2 more for probation violation. We didn’t back down in court, and the state dropped all charges after a short recess. Our client did not receive jail time, points, or probation – and he only paid a $50 fine.

Probationary Deal on a Second Offense

DUI

Our client had a .18 BAC in a notoriously heavy-handed jurisdiction, Harford County, where people can easily do 60 days active time on a second offense. Our firm negotiated a plea deal for our client that achieved no conviction, no points, and no jail. The Judge was incredibly impressed with the mitigation package we presented on behalf of client, who was very pleased with the results.

No Jail Sentence

DUI

Our firm secured a no-jail sentence for our client from a very tough Judge in Frederick County. Our client blew a .20 on a third offense, and the prosecutor was asking for active jail time. The Judge said the mitigation package we devised for the client made all the difference and led him to ignore the prosecutor’s jail recommendation in favor of just probation.

Charge Reduced

DUI

One of our DUI clients was facing up to 1 year in jail if convicted, plus $1000 in fines, 12 points on her driving record, and 3 years of supervised probation. By negotiating with the prosecution, we were able to secure a much better result. Our client did not receive a conviction, points, or jail time – instead, she paid only a few hundred dollars and received 1 year of unsupervised probation.

Not Guilty

DUI

After his fifth DUI charge, our client was facing up to 3 years in prison for a conviction. By showing that the field sobriety test result was affected by the client’s disability, our defense attorneys were able to secure a “not guilty” verdict on all counts, after the jury deliberated for only 12 minutes.

Probationary Deal on Sixth Offense

DUI

After being arrested for their sixth DUI, our client faced 3 years in jail, up to $3,000 in fines, and a system inclined to award maximum penalties to repeat offenders. Our team managed to secure a probationary deal with no jail time for this client.

While it’s important to hire an attorney after being arrested, you don’t have to decide right away, hiring the first lawyer you find. At the same time, the longer you delay in choosing an attorney, the more difficult your case may become.

While we cannot promise you a particular outcome, we do promise to fight your case with the same intensity, drive, and skill that produced these excellent outcomes for other clients.

NHTSA Field Sobriety Certification

Lead attorney Andrew Alpert is one of only a few attorneys in the state of Maryland who has been certified as a NHTSA certified field sobriety test instructor. He knows the proper procedures to use when conducting field sobriety exercises and will challenge any evidence against you obtained through improper field sobriety testing procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Hire A Criminal Defense Lawyer?

Hiring a criminal defense lawyer is essential when facing criminal charges, as they have the expertise to navigate complex legal systems and protect your rights. A skilled attorney can evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your case, build a strong defense, and negotiate with prosecutors for reduced charges or penalties. Without professional representation, you risk making costly mistakes that could lead to harsher consequences. A lawyer’s knowledge of legal procedures, evidence rules, and local courts ensures your case is handled effectively and gives you the best chance for a favorable outcome.

What Is The Difference Between A Felony And A Misdemeanor?

Felonies and misdemeanors are two categories of crimes that differ in severity and penalties. Felonies are more serious offenses, such as murder, armed robbery, or drug trafficking, and typically carry punishments of more than one year in prison, often served in state or federal facilities. Misdemeanors like petty theft, vandalism, or minor drug possession are less severe and usually result in less than a year in jail, fines, or community service. The distinction can have significant impacts on your record, with felonies often carrying lifelong consequences, such as loss of voting rights or difficulty securing employment.

What Are My Rights If I Am Arrested?

If you are arrested, the Constitution guarantees certain rights to ensure fair treatment. You have the right to remain silent, meaning you are not obligated to answer questions that could incriminate you. You also have the right to an attorney, and if you cannot afford one, the court must appoint one for you. Additionally, you have the right to be informed of the charges against you and to request bail. It’s critical to exercise these rights and avoid discussing your case with law enforcement without legal representation, as anything you say can be used against you in court.

Will My Case Go To Trial?

Not all criminal cases go to trial. Many are resolved through plea bargains, where the defendant agrees to plead guilty to lesser charges in exchange for reduced penalties. Whether your case goes to trial depends on factors such as the strength of the evidence, the willingness of both parties to negotiate, and the potential consequences of a trial. If a trial is necessary, your defense lawyer will prepare by gathering evidence, questioning witnesses, and presenting a strong argument to challenge the prosecution’s case. Ultimately, your lawyer will help you decide whether a trial or settlement is in your best interest.
