Recently, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office released the results of a DUI checkpoint conducted on December 21, 2012, in cooperation with Maryland State Police. The DUI checkpoint was set up between Thomas Lane and Old Solomons Island Road on E. Chesapeake Beach Road based on data collected about alcohol-related arrests and accidents in the area.
All 722 drivers that entered the checkpoint were given informational literature about the state’s drinking and driving laws. Of these 722, three drivers were directed to a DUI testing area as the result of the presence of alcohol on the driver. One driver was arrested for drunk driving, while a total of four were arrested for other offenses.
